What do The Shadows look like?

I was just wondering if anyone who had ever seen one would mind telling me what they look like?

I understand that the name Shadow gives me a pretty huge clue, but it doesn't go into much detail does it?
Are they smoke? Or Oil? Water? Fog?
Do they have variations in colour or are they a matt Black/Dark Grey?
Do they have a set form or are they all different, and do they swirl like fog or are the colours still?

I don't think I have ever seen one but without knowing what they look like it's hard to say for sure.

Obs.

To me they look like the sort of being they are e.g
Elf, Vampire, Were, dragon etc.
The difference for me is in what the person feels like rather than the look of each individual.

Well The Shadows were a pop group in the sixties and seventies. They looked like a lot of the other all male groups around back then. Though they did make a distinctive sound that helped make them famous they are probably most well known for being the backing band for Cliff Richard! :lol:
But if you’re asking about The Shadow.
There are lots of people who will tell you that we are dark shapes who sneak around in the night, watching people. That we are evil and that we drift like smoke or oil and that is why we are known as The Shadow, but that is not the truth.
The Shadow are what came from the mixing of the two beings known as The Source, (the light and the absence of light). We are called The Shadow because of this and because we don't have a fixed shape.
All kin come from The Source and through the Shadow, so Shadow are members of all the Kin races, and come in all shapes and sizes.
We are the Otherkin equvalent of serial killers and psychopaths. We can look just like everyone else! :ph34r:

When you say you don't have a fixed shape, you don't mean that you can shape shift into any Kin do you?

Yes I can understand that, but there are some that are just The Shadow aren't there? They're the ones that I am asking about. The ones that didn't form into any kin shapes but kept their original form.

Those Shadow.

Well I am a swirling mass of energy, usually it looks like thick blackdark smoke with fire mixed in. (The Shadow energy is that of Fire.) There is no shape or form, but it is a very active energy which can burn if you get too close.

Sounds familiar to me.

I am starting to see why people get confused about who is who. Or rather about who is what. The descriptions of Wraith, Shadow and even Phoenix are really quite similar.

Would I be right in my thinking that the "smokey" shadow are the ones from "between" the others so there are quite marked differences even between the formless Shadow.
I have to ask because Shadow is just a little before my time so I don't have any memories of you forming, only that you were all there as the phoenix formed.

The descriptions are all very similar as you say Zygopterix.
The reason for this is simple.
The Shadow are a mixture of fire and smoke in more or less equal measure. The energy from them was used to form all kin, however two stand apart from this.
The Wraith formed spontaneously from the energy given off by the acts of creation, this was composed mainly of hot smoke energy with a little flame, and the Phoenix were formed in direct response, to be the opposing force of the Wraith and so contain more from the flame and fire content of the energy with just a little smoke.
The familiar feeling you get is because this energy is in fact your own, merely in a slightly differing configuration.

If the energies being discussed here are opposites are they also then mirrors of each other? If one did something would the other be driven by their nature to make a corresponding move to create balance?

No, each existing energy, though connected by creation, works independantly of all the rest.
We are not allowed to blame others for the things we do, that would be too easy. We must all take responsibility for our own actions.

People often seem to think they can get away with saying 'I didn't have a choice', or something like that. It isn't true, everyone's life is filled with choices, good and bad, they're what you make them, because you make them.

It doesn't always come down to the right or the wrong choice though does it?
Sometimes the best you can hope for is the chance to make the least wrong choice, because none of the options you have could honestly be called the right choice.

That's true Death No More, but even when it's only between the lesser of two evils, it is still a choice.

So the energy of Shadow can exist in the form of any Kin and also in it's own form? Does that mean that those Kin made of Shadow energy get to choose what they form they will be, or is it a set form?
And do they get to choose between being Shadow or the form of Kin?

As you can clearly see this is very confusing to me. Help someone please! lol

I think that some Shadow became the specific Kin types and some remained in their original form Faith.
The choice was made long ago, and as far as I know they cannot swap and change between being a Kin type and being their original form.
One who chose to be a Shadow Vampire/Were/Elf will now always be a Shadow Vampire/Were/Elf, and one who chose to remain in orginal form will always be in that form.
Of course Shade would know more about it being one herself, but as I understand it that's the way it works.
