Just to clear this up a little....
You'll find that as a way to seperate the two that is alright here, many of the other members do the same. You might also hear them called Non-Kin.
Two we don't tend to use much are Mundanes and Mortals. Mundanes because it was said to be derogatory, and Mortals because whatever essence we are inside, we are all in Mortal bodies.
Shadowed Belief.
An exorcist is often a religious person who chants and says prayers and does various other things in order to banish an evil spirit that is believed to have taken over a human body and is making it do things it would not ordinarily do.
exorcism usually refers to the mainly Catholic practice centering around the Roman Ritual, a lengthy ritual of prayer for purification and banishment of invasive spirits.
The belief originates from Biblical tales of Jesus Christ dispelling unclean spirits, the later result is that the powers that he bestowed upon the Church including the power to use his name to expel those unclean spirits.
The Roman Ritual is very rarely used as in modern day, most phenomena is in the realm of mental illness, very few cases concern the church as the possible possession of a Christian by a malevolent spirit. Should a case be suspected as a possession, authorization to perform an exorcism usually has to come all the way from the Vatican.
Many of the stories of the use of the Roman Ritual are fantastic and exciting to hear, though I have never witnessed nor known anyone who has been involved in such a Ritual or even a priest who has studied the Roman Ritual enough to even think about being authorized to perform such if it were needed.
Popularized stories of Exorcism include the Exorcist movies (the first one I recommend seeing as it is a horror classic, and in my opinion a well done movie), The Exorcism of Emily Rose (not quite so great a movie) and has been used on television programs dealing with the occult such as "Good vs. Evil" (why was that amazing show ever cancelled) and even Angel.

There are always going to be stupid, hurtful people, saying stupid, hurtful things wherever you go. Some consider themselves human, some consider themselves Otherkin. You just have to be aware that saying they are Otherkin does not mean that they are not stupid, bigotted, uncompromising, judgemental, or any of the other awful things it is possible to be, and that saying they are human does not make them necessarily all those things. Approach each person on a one to one basis, and make your decisions about them based on them alone. If you can do that then there is less chance you will be used or fooled, changed or hurt and disappointed because you based who you expected them to be on what they said they were, and they turn out to be different to your expectations. |
That's a really good point that we should all try and remember.
Just because someone says they are Kin doesn't mean they know what they are talking about or that they are kind and nice people.
Just like everyone, all races can have mean members.
This person sounds like she's afraid, and so is rejecting what she is too afraid to explore. There are lots of people like that, it's a shame that they can't be more open to experiences and possibilities, they miss so much.
I'm glad you're feeling better about it Serenity. Time and distance help a lot don't they?
