I would say that the only thing that seperates Vampires from other Kin types is feeding.
While all Kin essences can feed, and most of the Kin I have ever met have said they do feed in some way, the difference between them and Vampires is that they don't really have to.
Their essences produce enough energy to sustain them and so finding supplements is not an urgent requirement for most of them.
But Vampires have to feed because their essences do not produce enough energy to sustain them. It becomes a compulsive need that cannot be ignored.
If a Vampire essence does not feed it begins to take energy from the physical body, which results in the body becoming tired, lethargic, forgetful, and, as time goes by and the liver produces fewer red blood cells possibly even developing anaemia as a result of sustained draining by the Vampiric essence it carries.
The only other Kintype to react in such a way to a lack of energy is the Were, who under certain circumstances will feel the sudden and urgent need to feed. But this feeling only occurs occasionally and infrequently for most Weres, whereas it is a constant daily feeling for Vampires.
Some Weres say they get feelings such as this around the full moon, when they seem to become restless and ennervated, this would make sense as when they feel like this they would burn more energy and so the essence would be unable to supply enough to meet the demand. You may have some experience of this yourself, though of course not necessarily around the full moon. smile.gif

I think this answers your question Wild, but if all it did was give you more then ask again and I'll see what I can do to help you understand.

The other day i was watching this program, where this supposed vampire showed exactly how he fed. The thing is any human with a strong stomach can drink some blood, but if you really want to see, if your truly a vamp, try what i did.

Try going a week volunteering at a blood bank all the while knowing you arent going to get any. otherkin/sad-smiley-002.gif

Not a pretty sight otherkin/jail.gif

I would think that if you weren't feeding in some way Serenity that would have been painful as well as difficult for you.
The Thirst is no laughing matter, those who have never felt it really do not understand how lucky they are.

So what i say dont pretend to be something you are not, because the thing youre pretending to be might get angry otherkin/angry-smiley-005.gif

That is very good advice Serenity.

No-one should ever pretend to be what they are not.
Liars however are everywhere on the internet, and are impossible to stop as unfortunately they have as much right to be there as everyone else.

There is one way to deal with them that works everytime. Ignore them and their lies, eventually they get bored and move on.
Simply tell your story as honestly and as truthfully as you can, and their lies will disappear from view and be forgotten.

Anger will not do anything for you, as they don't care about your feelings. Any anger you feel will only impact negatively on you. You don't need that in your life.
Liars are very shallow beings with short attention spans, if they feel that they are not making the impact they hoped for they will go somewhere else where the people will be more easily impressed.

All you have to do then is give them a friendly wave as they depart.

that was pretty profound, otherkin/145.gif

i hope you look out for my posts around here i usually end up needing corrective advice otherkin/angel_sm017.gif

He usually is, but it's still good advice. smile.gif

You are nowhere near as badly in need of that kind of help as you think Serenity.
You are interesting, articulate, and smart, you give good advice and you can do it with humour and a down to earth attitude many people can relate easily to. Don't be so hard on yourself, you have many wonderful qualities and it's good to have you back. smile.gif

Sshh you are destroying my image otherkin/costumed-smiley-001.gif

Thankyou very much Lady C
I have often wondered why it was a problem when we appear to be so similar. Thats really quite a big difference and even sounds a bit dangerous if you don't feed properly.

You are right the full moon rarely affects me at all anymore but physical exercise does, especially running. I used to empty the fridge and still feel hungry but now I recognise what it is and either have the right food in a modest amount, psy feed or step out of body for a while.

Even though you would guess at the opposite, entering the astral gives me a boost so I if I go out when I am hungry, I feel refreshed when I come back into body.
Does that work for you too?
