I have read on a couple of forums now that Vampirism is considered by the members to be a medical condition that humans suffer from.
What do you think?
Is that all any of us kin are?
Different human diseases?

zygopterix- 01-05-2008
hehe LOL no

there is a medical condition to explain some of the symptoms Vampires have but it doesn't explain all of them and it doesnt remain the same (like it does in Vampires)

here is a short description of Porphyria http://realvampires.tribe.net/thread/fd9e4...b2-62c50646dac5

and a better one
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porphyria

There is also the point that most Sanguinarian Vampires can learn to control thier "bloodlust" by psychic feeding.
Porphyria doesn't adequately explain the None Vampire Otherkin community either so Porphyria and mental illness are the two things doctors use to try and categorise us all.
Unfortunately for them neither one (or both together) adequately explains us away and they are truly left grasping at straws.

I give them credit though it was a good try. otherkin/lol.gif

I have visited quite a large number of forums, and there are things that have put me off each of them, as Zygo would know first hand. otherkin/lol.gif
There are many places I would not post as I disagree with their views or the way the mods/admin have of squashing those views they do not agree with. So many small things that spoil what would otherwise be a good forum. These places I simply walk away from, as although they do not suit me, they do at least tell tales of a recognisable version of kin. A set of species who co-exist precariously on this planet with the generally unsuspecting creatures who are not kin.
Live and let live does not apply here because what worries me the most about all this is that they are spreading their lies and mis-information and kin who do not know better believe it all.
They could spend their lives feeling inadequate, or even worse looking for a 'cure'. Thanks to these evil lies.

This kind of thing makes me so bloody angry.
We have to put a stop to this. Waddya say guys?

Hi.
I'd like to help too, any way I can, but I have a question.
Just a little one but quite important I think.

Does anyone have any idea HOW we're supposed to do this?
What can we do, and how do we do it?

We need ideas as much as we need enthusiasm.

zygopterix- 01-06-2008
You are right Shade it is frustrating, perhaps thats we all ended up here together (ooooh look fate again) so that we can start and do something real about it.

I think the first thing is to keep posting here (I know I would say that) because the googlebot will pick up more and more information from the forum as we post more.
It is surprising how long it takes but we finally got to the point where when you search for Castle otherkin you actually get this forum as first hit.
Now the more words we can use in general while we post wil help too for instance instead of saying Kin (which I do alot) say otherkin.
Stuff like that.
Also if rules allow and you are members of other forums putting a link to Castle Otherkin in your profile will help to draw other new members in.
I'll post some more as I come up with them.
I think I have a website to publish too otherkin/oops.gif should have done that a while back.

oh yeah lets add
1.THERE IS NO CURE FOR BEING A VAMPIRE OR VAMPYRE. IT IS NOT A DISEASE OR MENTAL ILLNESS

2.THERE IS NO CURE FOR BEING OTHERKIN. IT IS NOT A DISEASE OR MENTAL ILLNESS

(thats for the google bot and anyone else who wants to read it )

I'll join the band wagon to but i think I'll take a furrie alot faster otherkin/lol.gif

OK support is great, but we need to get practical too. So we need to start topics about a whole range of different Otherkin.
That way if we are checked out by the search engine's little bots they will find something worth reporting.
Would posts on the more obscure Otherkin help too? I mean like Pegasuses and other creatures that there may not be much more info about on the web?

Would it help to try and increase the wiccan side of things too? They must be feeling left out, and there are many more wiccans in plain view in life than there are any of us. They could tell their friends about the place too without being thought nuts like we might. If other wiccans found their part of the forum interesting enough to join that could only be a good thing surely?

I'll put my brain to this and see if I can think of any more ways to help. And Zygopterix, that website would certainly be a big help.
We could write articles for inclusion in the sections and that would help too.

Wolfbrother- 02-05-2008
I'm in I think you all would know that though but this is 20more words for the googlebot

SolitaryMoonlight- 02-07-2008
I am with you guys.
I have never considered myself to be a human disease and I find the idea that I am a human disease roaming the population looking for a cure to be
really insulting.

Wolfbrother- 02-08-2008
A club to exclude them from!! We let anyone in here

Wolfbrother

DarkeDesire- 02-08-2008
Yes we do let anyone in here don't we?

Some of these people are so convinced that they are right. They sound so plausible and believable it's hard to think they could be so wrong and yet talk about it in such a calm and well thought out way.

They believe different things to us, but does that make their world any less believable than ours?

Why are they so wrong to believe what they do?
In this free universe they have the right to think what they think don't they?
They would hate this forum and the things we say too wouldn't they?

Abandoned Faith- 02-11-2008
Have you really looked at what they are saying Darke?

I don't worry about what they believe, but I worry about them influencing others with their mistaken beliefs.
Youngsters just awakening need more than just a site that says it has answers and guidance, they need a site that actually does.

You know you can't make anyone kin by biting them. You can't catch Otherkin-ness. It isn't a disease.
Anyone who says that is mistaken. You know that.

Katie- 02-11-2008
i don't think they're bad for believing what they believe and their world is believable, in fact any world is believable if you're not given any other types of thinking. it's just sad when they're mistaken so badly because then they follow that broken pathway and every idea that springs from it is also probably incorrect and then it's just an endless spiral of mostly falsehoods. But then again, coming from their view, the same could be said about us. I guess it's just perception and the ability to weigh different beliefs and finding sense in them, or some feeling of truth. Like we did. Most of us who are born from the human world are brought up with the otherkin myths, vampires spread by biting for three days, werewolves spread by attacking and the victim living, elves frolicking around with giant pointy ears and living forever, but we were able to find different truths on otherkin forums such as this and decide for ourselves that all that is bull. So they aren't bad, but they shouldn't be set on something that was fed to them by the creatures who know basically nothing about kin.
