I read that turning/embracing is fiction and that you cannot be made into a Vampire by being bitten. And I can see that, so don't think that's what I'm asking please.
But I also read that it is possible to become a Vampire by being in close personal contact with someone who already is a Vampire.
Isn't that a kind of turning? And if it's not, what is it and what is the difference between them?

You could think about it in terms of being a Goth.

before you saw or met someone that is goth the potential to be a Goth was in you, you just hadn't realised it was there or if you did,then you didn't know how to express it.
Hanging around with other Goths and reading about or looking at them doesn't change you to make you a Goth it just allows you to learn how to express the way you feel and become a Goth in the way you look.

Awakening is:
A caterpillar eats and eats, spins a cocoon and sleeps. When it awakes it emerges as a butterfly, because the butterfly gene is stored, dormant in it's DNA from the day that it is born.

Turning would be:
A caterpillar eats and eats, spins a cocoon and sleeps. When it awakes it emerges as a hedgehog, even though butterfly is the gene that is stored, dormant in it's DNA from the day that it is born.

If you are born to be a butterfly you will be eventually, though it may take more time for some caterpillars than others.
And so if you are born with the kin gene in your DNA you will be kin, when the time is right.

But just as a person born to be a butterfly will never be a hedgehog, a hedgehog can never be a butterfly because they only have hedgehog DNA.
And so if you are born to be a human you will never be kin and no amount of turning of any kind can give you kin DNA.

What these two incredibly technical people are trying to say is:

If you have any possibility of being any kind of kin, you were born with it already inside you.
It is simply sleeping, waiting for the right moment in time to awaken. (Although, of course, the right time for IT may not be the right time for YOU.)
In any lifetime this awakening might occur at any age, it is even possible that the right moment may not arrive, which would mean you would live your whole life, and die, without ever being aware of your inner secret. Your kinself may wait until your next life to reveal itself.

Awakening happens in these circumstances when the Vampire essence inside the Vampire calls to the Vampire essence lying dormant and waiting inside the other person. It hears the calling of the essence in the Vampire and answers the call, awakening from it's sleep to help you become, in time, all that you were always destined to be.

The difference between Awakening and turning has been very well explained in the posts above, I'm sure you don't need my input aswell.

This is just dangerous.
I have had experience of what happens when you remove bits of otherkins essence and the result is generally bad, often leading to mental illness. You also can't replace it with a different type of essence as it will be rejected.
If you put some of your own essence into a humans it would just leave you missing some of yourself and your essence will react against the human essence and expel itself
Taking part of a humans essence away ultimately kills them.

Phoenix are able to fix this kind of loss, in Otherkin, with a special kind of fire but I honestly don't know if it works on humans.
I certainly can't find any references to it working before and as far as I am aware if I were to try and add phoenix fire to a human essence it would simply take hold and burn it away killing the recipient.

All things considered I find the linked article and writer to be incredibly irresponsible.

I just read that article you linked to, and the method that that person puts forth is quite horrendous to say the least, and very, very dangerous. One being should never touch another's heart chakra, and draining that energy, I'm sorry, it wouldn't be tiresome to the person it is being taken from, it would kill them. This seems to be one of those "wannabe vampires" that doesn't seem to understand the truth of things, and should be shot. Well, just my opinion.

Honestly the irresponsible attitude of some people just makes me so angry.
What worries me the most is that he, (who obviously could not do anything like this himself if his life depended on it,) is putting it onto the internet. And someone who has the potential to be able to do something like this is then reading it, thinking that lots of people do things like this and having gained their consent (at least believing they have) feel happy to go out and do it too. Causing untold amounts of damage, heartbreak and suffering.
It is absolutely appalling.

If I get it, that means that if I want to be some kind of kin then I would have to have it sleeping inside me.
If I don't have it then I'll be human until I die.
But if I do have it, at the right age or the right time it might just awaken on it's own.
Or hanging around with others like you guys might wake it up either.
But it could just not wake up in this life at all and then I'll think I'm human all the way through my life.
Then have my awakening in my next life time.
Or not.
It's quite complicated isn't it?

I don't think I fancy that at all.
I don't ever want anyone taking what makes me me out of my chakra and putting themselves in instead. It sounds like a big mistake. How do you know how much they would take out and replace? If they weren't nice they could take too much. Would that kill you?
And if they replaced too much you'd stop being you wouldn't you?
So if you're not you anymore, what are you?
Maybe that's what some people call being a Vampire, but if I'm not me how would I appreciate it or enjoy it?

Well, truthfully, yes, it would kill you. The heart chakra is not something to play with, especially when it comes to the energy that is held/circulates through it. It's what keeps your body going pretty much. If it's messed with, it will throw ones body out of whack completely, and could have dire consequences.

No-one should ever allow anyone to take anything out of or put anything into any of your Chakra points. Your Chakra is personal to you, and the health of it is extremely important to you as it reflects any imbalance directly into your body. If your Chakra is messed with, or your Aura is unbalanced then your physical health can often be affected.
Your sacred space is incredibly fragile, if it is not protected properly it can be breached very easily and then all kinds of horrors can happen.

Never allow anyone to mess with your inner self. It relies on you for protection, and you rely on it too.
