This is actually a new one for us, but we thought since it is your forum this should be your decision at least as much as possible.
So I am asking you to vote Yay or Nay on dispensing with the moderated posting for new members.
If you would like to see it GONE vote YAY.
If you would like to have it STAY vote NAY.

Hey I'm first. Yippee.

OK I had to think about this because I'm not keen on seeing trouble come back again, but it's not fair to make new members feel unwelcome by treating them like they're going to be horrible before we even get to know them. That's not what we used to be like. This place was the opposite of that in the beginning.
I don't like the new us as much, so I vote YAY. Dump the moderated posting and only punish the ones who actually do something bad instead of punishing everyone just in case they might.
I really hope that made sense.

I vote YAY. Moderation only offers limited help keeping unwanted people out. Once moderation is removed, there is still the option of banning people who become unwanted.

Provided troublemakers are removed on an individual basis, I do not believe that this will in any way harm the community.

I vote YAY to getting rid of it too. I've just come off my time of moderation so it doesn't really effect me anymore, but it didn't feel so good.
I wouldn't want anyone else to feel like that so I vote YAY definitely.

Give them a chance and make them feel welcomed. Then if they cause trouble you can re consider this or ban the members.

Moderators don't ban people from this forum. That is my responsibility.

Don't get too mixed up JackT.
If there are big choices to be made, we are usually asked to say what we think about it.
The thought is posted and we all get to say if we think it's a good idea or not. If most of us vote it a good idea then it happens. If most vote it a bad idea then it doesn't happen.
It's worked really well so far.

So read Lady C's post and then tell us what you think. Is it a good idea to let new members post without the post having to be read and approved first, or do you think their first posts should be read by moderators first to make sure they're alright?

I think that we should let them post and see what happens. Even if you removed the moderation, you could always put it back for any of them if they get silly couldn't you Lady C?
