Has anyone else read The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart?

I have read this book several times and I always enjoy it.
I wondered if there were any other fans of this book here.

For anyone who has not read it, it charts the life of Merlin from young boy to his early manhood, and in the two books that follow it, his relationship with Arthur, helping him grow into the man and then the King he is fated to become. His relationship with Morgan Le Fey and his eventual demise is also covered in these books.
Excellent reading material for anyone who enjoys the Arthurian legends.

hmmm...... I think I'll have to find those books and check them out myself, I love the stories of Merlin and King Arthur and the knights of the round table. Thanks for the idea.

I have read the first 2 but not the third.

I have a copy somewhere, I really will have to find it. That way I can see how it all ends. smile.gif

Now if only I could find where I have left those 12 extra hours for my days I may just have the time to do all the things I have to fit into each day. otherkin/lol.gif

I read these three books a long time ago and have to say they are really good.
I have re read them since and enjoyed them that time too.
They take a fairly truthful (I think) look at Merlin's life and do a good job of rendering it on to paper, telling of his exploits without getting too tangled up in all the magical side that honestly only Merlin could really tell you about.

10 out of 10 for me.

Incidentally Mary Stewart did another book called Thornyhold which is pretty good too.
It has a slightly mystical theme but it is part of the story rather than the backbone of it, which makes it more realistic I think.
