What is your opinion on re-incarnation?

Do you think it is real or just something made up by people desperate for everything not to just simply 'end' when they die?

Katie- 09-16-2007
I avidly believe in reincarnation. Not only because I remember lives that I've had, but simply because life doesn't end. I believe that existence is a circle no matter what form you're in, birth-life-death-birth-yadda yadda.

From a scientific view point: We are alive. In being alive we have energy. Energy cannot be made or destroyed merely changed. Therefore, if the body dies and the energy that used to be in that body is no longer there, then it has had to go somewhere else. That energy does not end so it will live in some form. thus, rebirth.

but mostly i don't believe in non-existence after life because i've been there. There just simply isn't nothing after you die, and in that place you can feel the possibilities for a new life if you choose.

at least that's my take.

Good question
My memories and my work mean that it is not a belief for me Shade it is just something I do.
To be honest the library simply would not function properly if reincarnation as such was not a possibility.
There are a great many things that go on in the library that can take hundreds and in some cases thousands of years to be sorted out. Then there are some jobs that require my presence in the physical to resolve them so of course without reincarnation I would have quite a problem.
I have spent a considerable portion of my existence as phoenix but still I do occasionally move on (LOL I suppose we are quite long lived really) and do something else for a while, this time being one of them but alot of what I do revolves around the library or the portals.

I would be interested to hear what you have to say on the subject Shade

Zygo

just a quick after thought.
Has anyone tried to imagine what "nothing" is like I bet you can't so how could there be nothing when you die ?

ComeToMe- 09-17-2007
I can't imagine what not believing in re-incarnation would feel like, I have believed for so long.

My clan/family has it's own brand of proof for such belief, but it isn't easily explainable. And outsiders find it too hard to believe for it to be any good as real honest to goodness proof for them.
In my experience "That which is too hard to believe, no matter how true, will NEVER be believed."

But then outsiders are not called that for nothing. smile.gif

I believe re-incarnation is a three part subject.

Firstly there is the re-incarnation we talk about where we are destined to live over and over again as our spirit does not die and therefore must be reborn into a human host to live again. Fun on the merry-go-round and the closest thing to imortality that I have yet found. . smile.gif

Secondly there is the re-incarnation much talked about by religions like buddists. Where your soul must be reborn over and over to live your life and travel the path to ultimate enlightenment, and religious serenity.

Thirdly there is the re-incarnation much talked about by humans.
This one, I have to admit, I have trouble with. My main problem being that everyone of them that speaks on this subject seems to have been Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Ghandi, Elizabeth The First, Dick Turpin, General Custer, Mark Anthony, etc etc etc............
No-one is ever just Jane Doe or Mr Nobody. Why not?
So to ask me if I believe in re-incarnation is an easy question, but it doesn't have an easy answer for me.
I believe our re-incarnation does exist.
I believe the religious re-incarnation could exist for those humans who work at it. (If ours is possible so is theirs!)
But I am sorry plain old 'just human' beings. I believe it is just not feasible. I cannot find any way to accept that you all could have been Cleopatra. otherkin/lol.gif

That's what I think. otherkin/wink.gif

Katie- 09-23-2007
well someone was cleopatra, but most humans simply can't accept the possibility of being nobody. I think there are some humans who are aware like we are, only they can't handle it so you get your cook psychics that are aware of reincarnation but either can't fathom being just the sister to the baker or the husband to the rug weaver and also feel they'd have more 'legitimacy' as a famous person reborn than just a simple no body.

I believe in reincarnation and i believe that the point of living is to experience and better yourself and those around you. I don't know if there is a point of enlightenment that will stop the cycle of life. I tend to think that's a no. I believe you can choose to return or not, but I don't know if i believe in a nirvana other than the afterlife i've always known. But i also don't have a lot of my memories in that time other than flashes, so i could be mistaken...
But in reincarnation you don't have to return as a human. I much prefer that of the animal since (for obvious reasons) i'm more comfortable as an animal. The only thing is in the time we're in it's safer to be a biped. Us animals are being wiped out too quickly and our lives are too inhibited by the humans. The only really good place to live is out in the deep rain forest, the desert or out in the middle of freaking no where, but only a few of us can live there without draining the resources and then getting ourselves killed from starvation.
it's a bummer. anyway... reincarnation.... yep.

Do you guys even remember your names from those past lives? I just realized that though i have memories i've never had names. I know the people in my lives then too, but i've never heard their names. I can sense they are the same as some people in my life right now, but i only know their current label. Do you guys know your past titles?

Yeah, you and every other guy who ever clapped eyes on Cleo!!!!
Is sex all you guys think about?

I am not at the stage where I even remember my past lives past the point of remembering that I had them Katie, so I can't help you I'm afraid. Sorry.

Also can I ask, (prompted by Wild's claims to have been Cleopatra AND Joan of Arc. Huh talk about greedy) otherkin/lol.gif
Are you always the same sex life after life? I mean of course it makes sense that you would be but I don't know and wondered if anyone had any info.

Haunting Silence- 10-02-2007
Not everytime. There are instances of males and females trapped in the wrong bodies. It works the same way for us with that is it does with humans.
But you are supposed to be the same sex life after life. Your essence is 'a sex' and it is usually drawn to bodies that reflect that. However as I have previously mentioned sometimes the universe likes to throw a curve ball at you. Just every now and again. I think perhaps it is just to prove that it still can. otherkin/lol.gif

I remember all my names from my past lives Katie, I just do not always get them in the right order and after all this time they do not always match up with the right face. otherkin/8).gif
I am afraid my memory for such things is a little hazy, but they are all there and with a little effort I could untangle them all if I had to. I think. I hope. otherkin/sad-smiley-056.gif

LOL@Wild. Naughty boy! You know after a while the milk from the baths would start to smell quite unpleasant, especially on a body.
Mixed with the sweat and other excretions on the skin sour milk quickly becomes the smell of baby sick. It is hardly Channel number 5. rolleyes.gif

Captive Wild- 10-02-2007
Sour asses milk...... yum..........what a lovely thought.
In truth I don't think I would like to have been either lady considering their demise. Joan of Arcs particularly bothers me but then so does being filled with musket shot and I do rememebr that vividly otherkin/censored.gif .

Joan of Arc was a bit boyish by all accounts but Cleopatra was without doubt stunnning (she looked just like Elizabeth Taylor in the movie I saw otherkin/wink.gif )

I hadn't thought about my different names or those of the people around me before. I just kind of accepted not knowing without even realising that I had.
Irritatingly enough a lot of what I do remember is somewhat untraceable as well
so unless I know my way around a new place or meet someone else who remembers the same things I am stuck without "proof" as most call it.

But..... I definitely I remember it...... and thats what's important to me.

Ahh proof. I remember the days when since we were all here for the same thing no proof was necessary.

The good old days. When the fact that they knew what they knew and could not prove it themselves, meant that they did not demand from others that which they themselves could not provide.
If they have trouble believeing you they would find me impossible! otherkin/lol.gif
I am a unicorn in a mortal body. The body will grow old and die and I will then move to a new body. Such has it been for me for longer than I can measure in time.
Sometimes I am born in a human body, sometimes I move in later as there are lives that need to be lived further than their human inhabitants can take them. That is when I am called upon to carry the essence until it has accomplished that which it was born to do. Then comes a parting of the ways and I begin again.
Such is my life and so has it always been.
No proof can be possible in cases such as mine, as often any evidence of the life lived would not be mine to give but the previous inhabitant's.

My advice to you is to ignore those who ask for proof, as they have no right to ask for it, and no reason to need it.
Be who you are, and let your actions speak for themselves. Be good kin and allow everyone to make up their own mind. smile.gif

ComeToMe- 10-09-2007
Oh my Haunting Silence, that post is so full of good advice I do not know where to start.

I especially liked this bit

I know that you have said in one of your posts on re-incarnation that mostly a female essence is born in a female body and a male in a male body, but occasionally there is that curve ball you mentioned, and I would agree with that, but how does that work for kin such as you?
I hope you don't mind me asking, but, do you get to choose whose lives you 'walk into' so that you only go into the correct sex, or do you just have to do the best you can with the essence you're given so to speak?

Lady C.

Katie- 10-16-2007
are there any essences that are neither male nor female? or that are both? is that possible or is there only the one or the other?
