This is not just a question for witches. I just feel most comfortable in this room. lol smile.gif

I wondered if there were places in nature that pull you to them as though on a thread of finest silk, invisible but so strong you cannot resist them?

I love the woods, dappled shade and the soft rustling of the leaves as the trees talk to each other. I love the wildness of the moors, with heather as far as the eye can see, and I love the beach, the smell of the ocean and the chance to paddle! I stare out at the water, thinking of all the life it's vastness covers, hiding it from view.

Nature is amazing, so what wild places call to you?

Moon.

I'm a woods lover myself Moon, and if i could, I'd spend every waking moment in them, living a hermits life, learning to live off the land like we were once meant to do, when the law of the land was of higher value than the law of man. To return to such simplicity, to such a natural state would be wonderful. But I'm getting off topic. The woods and forests of nature call to me day after day, night after night.

It's the mountains and high places for me.
I like nothing better than to be atop a distant peak looking down on the world.
I feel the weather rolling in from many miles away scenting and sighting it long before anyone in the valleys will ever be aware of it.
Mists carry moisture up from the sea and I feel the power of the waves in every droplet that touches my skin.
On warm days I smell the trees. Large Oak woodlands releasing tannins and their unique nectar smells into the air to float over the tops of the crags calling to a miriad of insects many miles away.
Walking my paths I see interesting scarab like beetles rolling alien sheep droppings away to feed their young. They like me make the best of certain situations.
I walk a ridge and feel the sun burst up from underneath me. The light hits the surface of a small mountain lake bounces up and warms me from an unexpected angle.

Sometimes people ask me why i climb mountains.
Up there is a tiny piece of why.
Up there in the mountains I am no longer Captive Wild, I am me.

i love all the places where for just a moment you hear nothing but the Wild. My favorites are the woods, the sea, the cliff, and rooftops. I love rooftops. ooo and trees. climbing trees is always fun. But anywhere that i can find the peace of nature with no distractions of human intervention is like... coming home i guess.

I love waterfalls.
It doesn't matter where they are. Warm climate or cold. I love them all.
The higher the better.

Trees, trees, trees and oh yes did I mention trees? otherkin/lol.gif

Anywhere with trees. I ADORE them. Climbing them, sitting in them, sleeping in/under them. The feel of them, the smell of them, the sound of them.
The way they sway in the wind, the way they rustle in a breeze. The shade they cast on a hot day, the shelter they give when it's stormy.
There is nothing bad to be said about a tree.
They give so much and ask nothing except space to be in return.

Oh my how I LOVE trees. otherkin/687.gif

I love lakes.
I enjoy sitting beside them and listening to the gentle waves lap against the shores. I enjoy boating on a lake too, it is so relaxing.
I like watching the birds and listening to their calls.
I spend holidays by lakes and meres, and get up very early so I can watch the morning mist rise from them in the dawn light. It is such a magical sight.
And watching the sun go down over a lake is even more beautiful.

i like the woods yea but i love the mountains.like out in colorado

ComeToMe- 05-28-2008
I'm not sure I have any one favourite place that calls me.

I love anywhere peaceful and unspoiled, where I can sit, relax and listen to the sounds nature loves most.
Gentle breezes, bubbling water, softly falling rain, bird song, and the noises animals make as they go about their daily lives.

Anywhere far away from artificial light, blaring music, honking car horns, screaming people, and that never ending buzz just under the surface of existence that is there all the time wherever people gather in large numbers. It's almost like the sound of thousands of heartbeats all pulsing at the same time, and creating a hum that underlies everything. It gets in my head and behind my eyes, and sometimes gives me an irritation headache that can take hours to pass.

The mountains in Colorado sound just lovely JackT. smile.gif
Doesn't the Grand Canyon run through them aswell? I've always wanted to ride a horse through the Grand Canyon. My ex-husband went there a few years ago, but it was a business trip so I couldn't go. otherkin/sad-smiley-056.gif

Anywhere with white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and palm trees, coral reefs and the chance to snorkel. smile.gif
Bliss.

I love sitting in a wooded glade. I can't think of anything more relaxing than sitting in the sun listening to the birds.

But I have always wanted to visit the open Volcanos on the Hawaian Islands, or New Zealand.
They just look fascinating.
And the Geysers in the Yellowstone national park in the USA. I'd love to go somewhere like that.

You are all so lucky. I love trees and grass but I can barely remember ever touching them because I developed very serious allergies to pretty much anything green when I was very young. I realize they probably have medicines for stuff like this but I'm not a medicine person so I guess I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

For me, it isn't a place that occurs in nature, but a place made by man.

Fields. Acres and acres of golden wheat that sways in the wind with a soft rustle. I live for standing in those ripened crops. During the summer, I often go out highway 18 in Oregon where there's lots of wheatfields. I am called to these places, and when I'm there, I feel so much at home.

I enjoy listening to the wind blow across a field of Wheat or Barley.
It always sounds so alive and friendly.
And watching the grasses ripple as it moves over them, touching each one. It looks almost like the waves moving across the surface of a lake.

It's a magical sight I never tire of.

The wheatfields in Oregon must be an awe inspiring sight at times like that. I think you are fortunate BC to be able to go there just to watch and listen, and be welcomed.
