Abandoned Faith- 01-02-2008
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what might make good music for meditating to? If you use music, what works for you?
I want to try using sounds and see if they will lift me higher than I am able to go right now when I just meditate in silence.

Whilst I am meditating now I have the feeling that there is something above me, just out of my reach, and that if I could only get a little higher, I would learn something very important to me.
It's very frustrating, and I'm sure music would help me, and give me that boost I need so much.

I hope someone can help.
Thanks.
Faith.

I find Enya and Clannad very relaxing, I also have a CD of Nature sounds which includes the bird sounds of Loons recorded across a lake, which is incredibly soothing. I listen to that one a lot.
I love the sounds of thunder and rain, and waves breaking on a beach are incredible. (But I do tend to fall asleep to that one! I guess there is such a thing as too relaxing.) otherkin/lol.gif

This is a great question, and I'm really looking forward to reading what the others put.

I like Gregorian Chants to meditate to.
I think it has something to do with the flowing, rhythmic sounds and the even, musical beat.
Lovely.

I can't use music as it prevents me from hearing my breath flowing in and out.
I suppose you could say that I use the music of my body.
(And that's not as rude as it sounds either)
It just means my breathing, my heart beat, my pulse beat, and the sound of my blood in my veins. Sometimes if the meditation is going well my blood sings. Does that count as music? smile.gif

I like Clannad too.
It is very relaxing. But it has to be music with no words, because meditating is very hard to do when you're singing along. smile.gif
