I have been thinking recently about the very different things your mind is capable of.

Sometimes the most destructive force, holding you back and making improvement and development impossible. It becomes accustomed to a set response to certain conditions and it can be incredibly difficult to retrain it to think and react differently. Anyone who is air sick, sea sick, or has a fear of anything at all, will know what I mean. There is absolutely no reason for your heart to beat so fast that you can barely tell one from the other, and so loudly that you cannot understand why everyone can't hear it, after all it IS only a mouse/common little house spider/moth/bird. Such fears are common and cause very little impact on daily life, though a fear of heights or flying can obviously be more restricting.
Sometimes people may even find that because of this conditioning of the mind they get sick at the same time each year, or everytime they go over a bridge, etc.
Such conditioning, taken to extremes can be debilitating, sometimes tragically, resulting in severe illness and even death.
I am sure most of you will have heard of Anorexia and Bulemia, (two extreme and very frightening eating disorders) and Agoraphobia (a fear of crowded places and inescapable situations). These illnesses quickly progress to the stage where they take over your life, until your control over situations is almost nil as the illness moves to direct and dominate your entire existence.
Re-gaining control from a mind accustomed to these set responses can take a lifetime of hard work, therapy and struggle for the people who suffer from thses kinds of illnesses.

Then on the other hand it is the most impressive and forceful power for good, motivating you to try harder, go further and achieve more than you ever thought possible. Recalling details you thought you had forgotten, reminding you of long forgotten things at just the right moment.
Learning many different skills, arts and accomplishments along your journey and often rermembering these skills throughout your life, to enhance and improve your own personal comfort and happiness and your impression on others and your usefullness to them.
Co-ordinating your thought processes and your movements with split second timing, in a seemingly effortless combination whilst, at the same time holding a conversation, ensuring the correct responses at just the right times to be polite, efficient, clear, succinct, legible, imaginative and even funny. And should you feel the need to do all these things whilst riding a bike, backwards and blindfolded it would probably cope admirably with that aswell!

An amazing force for good or evil, the power of the mind is unfathomable, and although it takes an amazing strength of will to get through life and come out a winner, if you can harness this power, and make it work for you instead of becoming it's slave, then you become an unstoppable combination.

Good Luck. smile.gif

At the moment all my mind does is confuse me.

One half of it tells me one thing and the other half tells me that none of that could be possible!

It makes me feel hopeful, and foolish for hoping.
It makes me look forward, and then turns me around so all I can do is look back.
It tells me I can do it if I want it enough, and that no-one could do it no matter how much they wanted it.

Very confusing indeed, and I am starting to feel quite dizzy. otherkin/lol.gif
