I would just like to inform you all that I will not be online for a week. My school's band has been chosen to represent our state at Washington D.C. I will be gone until sometime Sunday-Monday. I wish you all a good week without me and make sure to leave me plenty of posts to reply to when I get back. I hope the place doesn't fall apart without me(I know, I give myself too much credit.)

Anyhow though, I will miss all of you greatly.

Talk to you in a week.

I am glad to say that I am finally back. I positively thought that I might die before I returned home to my friends and family her at the Castle. It turned out to be a 26 hour drive up there and it was one thousand one hundred and seventy-nine miles. It was the only thing that I have been in a vehicle driving. Went to sleep, was still driving, dosed off again, woke up, and we were still driving. It was almost absurd how long of a drive it was. It was a fairly large climate change from where I live. It was more humid there and the scenery change was large as well. I went from seeing one story buildings to sky scrapers. I visited the Arlington National Cemetery for people who have died at war. It was another first for me. The first time I ever found myself lost in a cemetery. I also found it very saddening. There were way too many headstones there. We also saw so many memorials and monuments that I don't even remember their names. We did a lot of walking and the humidity, combined with the sun, made me very sore. I am planning to stay in my dark room for a couple of days and relax. We saw the white house and such(I even got the pleasure of seeing two snipers posted on the roof of the place. I think such things are cool). One thing I did notice. There is water in D.C. but it is not for drinking. Lots of water fountains for show, none for drinking. And, everyone there, jogs. A LOT! I don't see how they jog that much and have no water. I thought I would die after a day of walking around without any water. I also noticed my fair share of pick pocketers and scam artists. One even made an attempt to scare me into giving him money by grabbing my arm. Luckily, a cop materialized out of nowhere from the crowd and got him. So yeah, I had a pretty eventful time up there but I am glad to be back to those who understand me. I thought I would die because of all the crowds and narrow-minded people. So yeah. If you have any questions about my trip or anything. Please do not hesitate to ask me and I will try to answer.

Well I am pleased you're back and safe having had an "interesting time".
I think your timing for finding a policeman is stunning...so well done there. Here it takes three weeks to find one and then they say sorry we can't do anything because he's gone now. otherkin/angry-smiley-005.gif
well it's not that bad but it feels like it sometimes.

Did the band stuff go well though thats what we want to know?

i thought they did very well under the conditions they was in...hi btw, i went to (colorguard)...It could have been better, but with having three hours of sleep after being up thirty six hours i bealive they were awesome...legitimize probably doesn't think so but i do..the people there don't bealive in ground level building...EVERYTHING had stairs...and the water bottle prices there was expensive..that's probably where a large amount of the money went to.. otherkin/lol.gif but it was a fun trip overall.Just happy to be home!! otherkin/870.gif

She knows me well. I think we did terrible. Heat, lack of sleep, and exhaustion from lack of water and walking everywhere is no excuse for a poor performance. Even if it didn't really mean anything. Now our reputation is bad. People in D.C. will think we play badly all the time. The water was a bit outrageously priced. They made you walk all over just to find a seller of it that wasn't out, then they charge you out the wazoo for it. I am very happy indeed to be home.

I am sorry you both had a rough time of it, it's a shame when things like this fall below expectations because of outside influences.

I think a lot of the time you would feel alright if you just didn't get it on the day and forgot your lines ( as such) but when it's something else like that, it has a bitter edge because it was in all honesty, really out of your control.
I can and do empathize that.

zygopterix- 06-17-2008

Well I am sorry you came back disappointed both of you. It always stinks when that happens.
And I'm sure you weren't as bad as you thought Travis. They may not know that you don't play like that all the time, but you don't know what kind of standard they are rating you against. It is a shame that you were not happy with the performance you gave, but they may be used to REALLY TERRIBLE performances, after which you and your group (even if they had been at their worst) might have been a wonderful happening for them.
As Einstein would say "Everything is relative" otherkin/687.gif

You are both happy to be home, where the water is easy to come by, and decently priced, and there are not so many stairs, but you are happy you went and had the experience.
So do you think the trip changed you? And now you're back, how is life at home, same/different after your experiences? smile.gif

It's really good to have you both home safely.
Lady C. xx

Farshief- 06-18-2008
No, I'm sure we were as bad as I thought. Even if we did have several excuses. I don't like to make excuses. I guess I just push myself too hard.

It is true, everything does tend to be relative.

I am indeed happy to be home. Going up there has given me a new love of easy getting around, and easy to come by water.

I think the trip made me realize how much I hate riding buses full of other people.

It's really good to be back.
