Awakening: This is when a person who always previously believed themselves to be human, first begins to suspect that they might be something else. (Vampire, Were of some kind, Elf, Faerie, Angel, etc.) It is an emotional and scary time of change, acceptance and confusion. Embrace: In White Wolf Game Studio's role-playing games about vampires, the Embrace is the act of turning a mortal human being into a vampire. In these games and books this almost always involves the draining of human blood by a vampire and then allowing the human to drink the blood of the vampire involved in the embrace.
