I was thinking that the idea of a forum dictionary is still a good one isn't it?

Well if it was my idea on Vampyres couldn't it also be my idea here?

Would it be alright if we started one here?
I mean the one they have there is very good and it is informative too, but I wouldn't feel right anymore about linking to theirs, so I thought maybe we should start a new one of our own from scratch.
What does anyone else think?

Well yes it is still a good idea, I thought so when you first suggested it else where, and I would think that an idea would belong to the person who first had it yes Darkness.
I doubt very seriously if you were the FIRST person ever to think of a dictionary though, and since I have no idea who to ask permission from as I don't know who DID first think of a dictionary, I would think it would be fine for us to have one here.
As for my permission, you have that gladly if you would like a forum dictionary here I will make a section for it in the library. I would not feel right about linking to the other one either, it would seem........ a bit cheeky?

Firstly though I'd like to hear from at least a few of the other members about what they think.
So come on members, please let us know what you think, would a dictionary here be a good idea?

I would vote yes, and I assume Darkness would also, so for what it is worth we have two votes for yes.

I liked the idea in the first place and still haven't changed my opinion of it.

A forum dictionary is a section that would have definitions for certain words that apply to this forum given by its members. Such as the meaning of therian, aura, the different types of feeding, different types of shifting, etc... so that those who are viewing this forum and have questions about certain words can just go to the dictionary and learn what they mean without having to ask (some people don't feel comfortable asking)

there are the words Katie mentions but there are also a few words which have an outside world meaning as well as a kin one.

For instance Feeling something to most Kin is quite different to a none kin view of the word which usually denotes just a physical feeling like touch rather than empathy and emotional or spiritual feeling.
That way newly awakened Kin or visitors have a way of understanding the words we use in their proper Kin context rather than putting a meaning to them that sometimes is totally different to the one meant by the writer.

That explains everything really well. I hadn't thought of some words having a possible different meaning, or rather an extra or deeper meaning to kin.
It is quite complicated and in depth to get the hang of this kin thing isn't it?

Anyway I think (especially for me) the idea of a forum dictionary is an excellent one. I need all the help I can get and I am sure (at least I hope) I am not alone.
So I would vote yes.

Can I say I love the way this is working at the moment, where everything is given to the msjority of the members to vote on. I know you can't please everyone and that some are always going to be not 100% happy with some decisions, but at least you will always know that you are running your forum for the best of what is the major part of your membership.
It's very nice and makes me feel more like a family member, rarther than just a subscriber with no voice.

Yes I would like to see a dictionary here. I think it would be really useful.

I didn't know where else to put this, so I though here would be alright.

Would this be a word to be included in the dictionary? I have heard it used to describe 'A circle or group of people who meet for social or other purposes; a clique', but also to describe 'A group of kin who support and protect each other'.

So the definition could run something like:
Coterie: 'A circle or group of people who meet for social or other purposes; a clique'. or 'A group of kin who support and protect each other'.

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

What about 'Kindred'?
I have read the normal definition of it:
"An extended family or clan, or a group of related individuals."

But would the otherkin definition be that much different?
