well i am the same way i dont let anyone poke me with a needle that isnt trained...and again sucking a ferret does not sound appealing...
It's actually a bad idea for anyone to try approaching me with a needle in their hand. People have been severely injured trying to jab me with a syringe.
As for ferret sucking, well all I can say is don't just dismiss it until you've tried it.

Just make sure you get an old fogey ferret with no teeth. Otherwise it could get vewy vewy methy
lol is it any good? or fun at least?
Kes is right there is a cure for teh ferret sucking disease, A big long needle, I'm trained to give it if there are any takers.
Wolfbrother
I think I would rather have a ferret in my mouth Wolfbrther but thanks for the offer

ok So we have accertained that actually biting is probably a really bad idea and no one really likes needles..shudder...or ferret flavoured anything although the jury is out on Shade and that one.
So what is the best way.
Would making a small nick and allowing the blood to drip ito your mouth work....only because it's clean and there is no contact for germ transfer.
Speaking from a by standers point of view here so guessing a bit but it seems like a possibility.
Zygo
well biting though it sounds fun is unhealthy and u always thought cutting then letting it drip then suck works fine then just clean the cut with anti bacterial, needles are okay i guess but i dont want one stuck in me...i get enough of that from the doctor...and dripping it into your mouth sounds like it would be very slow...painstakingly so
I hadn't thought of that, I suppose making a cut big enough for it not to take all night could be a bit dodgy really....
Zygo
yeah i mean it wouldnt be a good thing to cut a vein and thats the only way it would actually flow...im saying sucking it or licking or something along those lines is easiest...
From reading this discussion there doesn't seem to be a way to do it that doesn't hold an element of risk, however small.
Donors must be incredibly brave, understanding and caring people, and of course that explains why usually donors are people who know the Vampire very well and have a close relationship with them.
I know that some donor for their own reasons, but for most it seems to be a big responsibility which they take on because they care about the one they are donating to.
well i recently moved and in doing so i lost my one and only donor, the only person who knows about me...and i havent known anyone here for little over a month and its a whole different country (why in the world i had to move i will never know) its been a while since i have had blood and i feel horrible with it but as donors go im thinking that they either it because they care about about the person or want to be nice, but whatever the reason thank goodness they do...
I know the feeling, but whatever you do dont go to blood banks
I know this occurs in movies so may not be fact, But try the butcher, they most have buckets of the stuff.
Wolfbrother
honestly i would prefer human to animal...and i dont even know where to get blood or if theres a blood bank here, like i said i just moved...
While it is tempting to go get a bucket of blood, some argue that because its been separated from the owner so long all of the energy (the reason ya drink the stuff in the first place) would be gone.
Animal blood is usually warned about because they don't screen it as well as human blood and they've been known to screw up even that. You could end up severely sick and even with a mild case of deadedness. Granted you could die from eating anything, its just animal's blood is pretty much insanely high on the risky chart.
bitten8sln, cutting a vein is also up there, actually above, drinking animal blood, not for you but for the donor. Cutting a vein would most likely end up in:
A. a need for a good mortuary and a hole in the ground
B. the hospital
C. making a gigantic mess
D. the cut taking a long time to heal and leaving unsightly scars or
E. any combination or all of the above.
When making a cut, you don't actually cut the VEIN. You make a shallow cut with a straight, sterile, non-serrated, sharp blade/razor (serrated edges lead to scarring, more pain than usual, and a wound that takes longer to heal) in an area of the body away from major arteries and surface veins as to not sever any of them. The amount of blood that would leave the body due to actually cutting a vein would be FAR more than any vampire should need and put your donor in serious danger. Usual sites on the body are: the upper arm, lower arm, on the top of the hand at the base of the thumb, top of the thigh. These are just a few but these the typically less dangerous ones.
Now to actually get to the topic, I prefer sucking that is after I've brushed my teeth, used mouthwash, and sterilized the area on the donor where the cut is. I realize that the human mouth has a lot of germs in it but the more precautions used, the better.
