A question for Sanguinarians

I don't want to make a big thing about blood drinking, and I am not trying to be disrespectful, but I was wondering if the blood drinkers on the forum would tell me why they do it?

I don't mean why they feel they need blood as I understand that it is an energy thing. I mean why do they feel they need 'blood' rather than feeding another way.

Is it the feel, the taste, the rush afterwards?

I'm not quite the sanguinarian as others on the site are, but here are my thoughts on it. To me, I have always enjoyed the metalic iron taste of blood, be it mine or anothers. There's just something sweet to the taste that sends waves of pleasure through my system. I personally have quite the fetish for blood.

I know the nutritional reasons for consuming blood, as it is essentially the purest source of Prana that exists in the physical sense.
But I could not know the pull of the thirst and so I thank you Kes for asking this question.
I am looking forward to seeing the replies the others leave, to see if they feel the same as DA or if they have reasons of their own.

I not sure what i am but somethings there i know.... I believe vampire feed of blood whether human or not it a way of survival...just as a wolf feed upon a squirrel or rabbit....vampires are humans nature enemy just as the rabbit or squirrels natural enemy is a wolf..... they/we (those who are vampire) are not monsters we are different yes but i don't know why because i am not completely sure what to look for yet....but that is what i think

I mean however you say it there are only a handful of humans who would nod and smile if you told them you enjoyed drinking blood. Most of them would just think you were creepy, and some would think you were deranged and dangerous.
Maybe part of the attraction is the creepy and dangerous image it has.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'humans natural enemies' Sephunveyna, but I don't think I have any of those.
As an essence, all I exist with are like me and no-one like me is my enemy, they are my Kin. Until they give me a reason to think differently.
When I'm in a human body I don't think of other humans as enemies unless they start it, then I stand up for myself, but then I always stand up for myself when I'm attacked, no matter who is doing the attacking.

I'll tell you as it was explained to me when I wondered this same thing. It goes along with what Wraith was saying.

Blood is the purest most-direct physical form of energy. As it circulates throughout the body it not only distributes protein, nutrients, and oxygen but also energy, keeping it fresh and plentiful.

For those of us who do not (either because of inability, lack of skill, or pure preference) take energy psychically, therefore must take it physically.

As for craving the blood, I've developed my own theory. Since the sanguarian instinctively knows that blood is the purest source of energy (I have yet to meet one that didn't know that from awakening or before) I suspect that in the individual's mind they then associate the gaining of energy with the presence/taste/smell/what-have-you of blood. It's more of psychological thing than an energetic one, in my person opinion. Basically:

blood = energy
therefore
hunger for energy = hunger for blood

*shrugs* At least, that's what I've got so far. It's just my opinion and thoughts. I'm not saying its complete or correct.

I am a Vampire, but I have been a vegetarian for 15 years, so blood feeding for me is a dim and distant memory. But I still find the smell of blood can make my stomach growl.
I think that one of the most interesting points made by this topic is that it's not just Vampires who take blood. I mean DarkAngel said above that he likes the taste of it, and he is Fallen.
I wonder how many other types of kin enjoy the taste of blood and the energy buzz it brings.

I can't abide it at all. It actually makes me feel ill but.. I eat venison with a passion and that has a slightly blood taste to it.
Pigeon too which I like very much has a similar taste.
I cook them to within an inch of their tenderness though so maybe it is the format rather than the taste that bothers me.

Venison is probably my favorite kind of meat in existance. It's so delicious. I haven't had pidgeon but now I'm curious. XD I couldn't ever be vegetarian. I tried for a week, this thing called Pledge to Veg, and I'm glad I did it, I just won't ever again. lol

i cant say im a fan of meat. im nt a veggie but i just dont like red meats.
to be honest i get queezy at the sight of blood :S

i also tried to go veggie but to be honest i just couldnt go without sausages for too long

The only thing I miss is Bacon sandwiches. I absolutely love them. They're what ketchup was invented for.

But they'd need to prove that the pig was really stupid enough to be called a vegetable before I could eat it, and pigs are quite smart so I think I'm out of luck.
